LIGHTNIN' WELLS |
Lightnin’ Wells sings and plays in the style known as the Piedmont blues. His extensive knowledge of the blues, combined with his laid back manner and his spirited musicianship, make him a unique individual – or as some Southerners might say, a real character. Some of Lightnin’s children songs are featured on Shoofly issues Vol. 2, No.1 and Vol. 4, No. 1.

BULL FROG BLUES
Mike Lightnin' Wells was raised in eastern North Carolina and developed an early interest in traditional forms of folk music during the 1960s folk revival. He began performing publicly while a student at UNC-Chapel Hill during the early 1970s. Lightnin' has performed widely for blues societies, arts councils, and in nationally recognized folk and blues festivals and concert programs throughout the US and Europe. In 1995, his first solo blues recording, Bull Frog Blues, was released on the New Moon label.
